Chris Dubois
Chris Dubois was born in Oudenaarde and studied at the Royal Flemish Music Academy of Antwerp where Flor Peeters was his main teacher. At a very early stage he started composing and became one of the finalists of the composition contest ‘De Vleeshouwer’.
Until September 1999 he was an organ teacher at the ‘Lemmensinstituut’ in Louvain and at the Music Conservatory of Bruges. He gave quite a lot of performances not only in Belgium but also abroad, mainly in the U.S., Canada, Italy and Germany. Nowadays as organist he has professional connections with the church of the ‘Paters Karmelieten’ at Bruges. He has always devoted himself to get the Flemish organ music known and recognized.
Chris Dubois was a regular performer of Radio 3 for which programmes he often made up some anthologies of the work of J.N.Lemmens, E. Tinel, F. Peeters, R. Schroyens, P. Swerts, H. Roelstraete and of his own. As an organist he is on the same level with J.N. Lemmens: his teacher Flor Peeters was a student of Oscar Depuydt who himself had studied with another student of Flor Peeters, Joseph Tilborghs.
Chris Dubois has made compositions for the organ, piano, cello, carillon and choir.
